A Host handoff is a documented custody change. The parcel arrives from a shipper or inbound traveler, sits under your control, then leaves with the next traveler or the recipient. Every hop still requires inspection. The app and Host Portal are the record — not a hallway handshake.
Inbound collect
- Confirm the booking and time window in the Host Portal.
- Match the person to the in-app identity and booking, not to a screenshot alone.
- Weigh and photograph the parcel as received. Compare to the listing.
- Refuse obvious mismatches, damaged seals, or prohibited items. Record the refusal in-app.
- Store the parcel in a labeled, secure location until the next hop.
Outbound traveler handoff
When the next traveler arrives, repeat identity checks. Let them inspect before they accept. Photograph the outbound state. Confirm in the portal that custody left your facility. If they decline after inspection, keep the parcel secure and follow the in-app next step — do not improvise an off-platform carrier.
Multi-leg hub holds
Some shipments move on more than one trip. Your city is the hub: Traveler A delivers to you; Traveler B collects later. Timing windows can be hours or longer. Capacity planning matters — a Host is useful precisely when the next flight is not immediate.
Last mile
If the listing includes doorstep pickup or drop-off in your city, your team or a delivery partner completes that local leg. Photograph the doorstep handoff. Recipient confirmation still releases the commercial settlement in J1USD.
