Introduction to Door-Step Services​

Door-step services on AirJIT allow shippers to have parcels picked up or delivered directly to and from their specified locations, such as homes, businesses, or other non-airport locations. These services offer added convenience but come with additional costs that are calculated based on distance and are agreed upon between the shipper and the traveler.

Pricing Structure for Door-Step Pick-Up​

  • Base Fee: The standard fee for door-step pick-up is $10 for the first 10 kilometers or less. This fee ensures that the traveler is fairly compensated for their time and effort in collecting the parcel from your chosen location.

  • Additional Distance: If your location is more than 10 kilometers away from the traveler's starting point, an extra $1 per kilometer is charged.

    • Example: If your location is 15 kilometers away, the total cost would be $10 (base fee) + $5 (additional distance) = $15.

Pricing Structure for Door-Step Delivery​

  • Base Fee: The base fee for door-step delivery is also $10 for the first 10 kilometers or less. This fee covers the traveler's effort to bring the parcel directly to the recipient's address.

  • Additional Distance: Similar to the pick-up, any distance beyond 10 kilometers will incur an additional $1 per kilometer.

    • Example: If the recipient's location is 20 kilometers away from the traveler's endpoint, the total delivery cost would be $10 (base fee) + $10 (additional distance) = $20.

Negotiating Fees with Travelers​

  • Base Fee Negotiation: The base fee of $10 is generally non-negotiable, ensuring that travelers are fairly compensated for the minimum effort required. However, you can negotiate the per-kilometer rate beyond the first 10 kilometers based on the route's difficulty, traffic, or other factors.

  • Special Circumstances: If your location or the recipient's location involves difficult access, high traffic, or requires specific timing, you may need to negotiate a higher fee. It's essential to discuss these details with the traveler before confirming the booking.

  • Third-Party Services: If you or the traveler decides to use a third-party service for the pick-up or delivery (such as a local courier service), these costs should be included in the negotiation. Ensure that all agreed fees are clearly documented in the AirJIT messaging system to avoid any misunderstandings.
