Travelers accept leftover kilograms, not unlimited cargo. Overstated lightness or undersized dimensions cause gate refusals. Measure the packed parcel — the state it will travel in — not the item alone.
Weight
- Use a scale. Do not guess.
- Include packaging. Tape and boxes add up.
- Leave margin under the traveler’s stated leftover kg. Airlines are strict at check-in.
Size
Enter length, width, and height of the packed shape. Soft bags compress; rigid boxes do not. If the parcel must stay flat or cannot be bent, say so. Cabin versus checked assumptions belong in the listing so travelers do not plan the wrong bag.
Packaging that survives luggage
- Use sturdy, light materials that can be resealed after inspection.
- Protect corners and screens. Bags are stacked and thrown.
- Avoid prohibited packing materials (loose lithium, leaking liquids).
- Put a copy of the contents list inside, not only in the app.
