Dispatch Locations and Timing

As a shipper, ensuring your parcel is dispatched correctly and on time is essential. There are three primary locations for dispatching parcels before they are handed over to the traveler:

  • Airport Location: By default, the dispatch occurs at the airport, typically within 8 hours before the traveler's departure. This is the most common location for handing over parcels.

  • Traveler Accommodation Location: You may choose to dispatch the parcel to the traveler's accommodation, which should occur no later than 8 hours before their departure. This option is flexible, allowing early dispatch if the traveler agrees.

  • Doorstep Dispatch: For Shop and Carry or specific requests, you may arrange for the traveler to collect the parcel directly from your address. This option often incurs an additional service fee.

Shipper Responsibilities

As a shipper, you are responsible for ensuring that the parcel is ready and handed over to the traveler as agreed. Here are key responsibilities:

  • Timely Dispatch: Make sure the parcel is available for collection at the agreed location and time. Delay in dispatch can affect the entire shipping process.

  • Communication: Coordinate with the traveler to confirm the dispatch details, including the location and timing. Clear communication helps avoid misunderstandings and delays.

  • Documentation: Ensure that all necessary documentation, such as customs declarations and proof of ownership, is included with the parcel.

Parcel Inspection by Traveler

Once the parcel is handed over, the traveler will inspect it. The traveler is required to:

  • Unpack and Inspect: The traveler will unpack the parcel to check its contents, ensuring no prohibited or restricted items are included.

  • Verify Weight and Dimensions: The traveler will confirm the parcel's weight and dimensions to match the details you provided. Any discrepancies may lead to additional charges or issues.

  • Document the Condition: The traveler will take photos of the parcel and its contents to document their condition at the time of dispatch.

Preparing for Dispatch

To ensure a smooth dispatch process, follow these steps:

  1. Package Securely: Ensure the parcel is securely packed but not overly tight, allowing the traveler to inspect and repack it easily.

  2. Include Documentation: Attach all necessary documents, such as customs forms and receipts, to the parcel. These documents should match the details you've uploaded on AirJIT.

  3. Coordinate with the Traveler: Use the AirJIT messaging system to confirm the dispatch details with the traveler, including the time and location.

  4. Prepare for Inspection: Be aware that the traveler will inspect the parcel. Ensure that all items match the listing details to avoid any issues during the inspection.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure that your parcel is dispatched smoothly and is ready for the traveler to collect and transport. Proper preparation and communication are key to a successful handoff on AirJIT.
